Recycling rates in Swansea and across Wales have increased rapidly over the past decade and the waste sent to landfill has dropped, but how will the momentum be kept up?...
The latest edition of the popular Environmental Events Swansea leaflet has been published. This useful resource outlines almost 250 different events taking place in and around Swansea between March and December 2016. The events include guided walks and cycle rides, a wide range of talks, workshops and training courses about wildlife and environmental issues, and lots of children’s activities in amazing natural settings. Most of the events are FREE or at low cost so everyone can get involved.
There are several festivals or large events to enjoy too, such as the Wales Biodiversity Week and Bike Week in June, the Gower AONB 60th Anniversary Celebrations and the Sculpture by the Sea Festival in July, the Gower Cycling Festival in August and the annual Green Fayre in November.
The leaflet is produced by the City and County of Swansea’s Nature Conservation Team with funding from Natural Resources Wales. Details of over 40 local organisations and projects, are included in a contact list at the back of the booklet. Throughout the year, further information on projects and events will be posted on websites and through social media but this provides a useful overview of activity in the area.
The leaflet can be viewed and downloaded from www.swansea.gov.uk/environmentalevents. A printed version should be available in the last week of February from a wide range of venues, attractions and information points in the area including libraries, the Civic Centre and the Environment Centre.
